John
Zepp, Steel Erection Superintendent
John enjoys the honor of
being the longest tenured employee at Shriver Construction
Company having joined the company in June of 1961.
In his position as a Steel Erection Superintendent, John
is responsible for coordinating all personnel and subcontractors
assigned to his project. He
is typically assigned to manage projects that are heavily
dependent on Shriver steel erection personnel and coordinates
the day to day field activities of the project throughout all
phases of the project. John is also a skilled crane operator and is generally the
operator whenever Shriver is utilizing its crane. A thoroughly accomplished welder, he continues to play
another valuable role in handling many of the company’s most
difficult welding assignments.
Born in Sac County,
Iowa, John grew up and attended country schools through the
second grade. He
then attended Jefferson Community Schools graduating from
Jefferson High School in 1960.
Growing up on a family farm, John gained extensive
construction experience from his father who had worked in
construction during the war years.
At age 10, John helped his father construct the family
home on the farm and helped with many extended family building
projects throughout his formative years.
While attending high school, John worked a full time 8
hour shift each day after school at the American Trampoline
Company (now American Athletic, Inc.) as a welder.
Following graduation, he opened his own welding shop and
continued in business until he was approached by Meredith
Shriver, who needed a full time certified welder for his
construction company. He
took the offer and has been with the company ever since.
John
has four adult children, Carolyn, Christine, Jason, and John
III. He also is the
proud grandfather of five grandchildren, Justin (17), Erin (15),
Robbie (10), Amber (8) and Ryan (6).
In his down time, John enjoys doing drag strip racing and
elk hunting in the Colorado mountains.
He is building a new home complete with a VP shop/garage
building. An avid
cat lover, his favorite activity, though, is spending time with
his pets.
