Sam
Harding, President
Sam
joined the company in 1989 as a project manager and was promoted
to Vice President & General Manager in 1994.
In August of 2004, he purchased the company and took over
as President. Sam is
responsible for the management of the overall company
operations, as well as serving as the company’s sales
professional. An
accomplished estimator, he supervises and coordinates the
preparation of all bids for both the hard bid and negotiated
markets. In
addition, Sam does all front end contract work including issuing
subcontracts and purchase orders, preparing internal budgets,
and assigning project management and supervision as well as
supervising all company accounting systems.
Born
in Wyoming, Sam grew up in Kemmerer, Wyoming, graduating from
Kemmerer High School in 1979, before attending the University of
Wyoming where he received a BS in Mathematics in 1983 and an MBA
in 1987. He gained
extensive construction experience by working road construction
and housing construction jobs to help defray his educational
expenses. He worked
full time as the Assistant Athletic Equipment Manager at UW from
1983 to 1987, following four years as a Student Equipment
Manager for the UW Football Team.
It
was while working at UW that Sam met his wife Rhonda, and they
were married in 1985. They
have two children, Daniel (20) and Amanda (16).
Sam was elected to the Jefferson-Scranton School Board in
1993 and is currently in his fifth term of office.
He has served as the President of the JS Board five times
for one year each time during his term on the Board. He is a
Past President of the Jefferson Rotary Club, and he continues to
serve as the Treasurer of the Jefferson Rotary Club Foundation. He
serves as Vice President of the Iowa Competitive Bidding
Alliance, Inc., as well as serving on the Iowa Association of
School Boards Legislative Resolutions Committee, and the
Jefferson
Park
and
Recreation Commission.
Sam
was named the 2007 Professional of the Year, an award given to
the person who through
devotion and dedication to their profession has helped make
Jefferson
a nicer place to live.
It is an honor that he is particularly proud to have received.
In
addition, Sam has served on the Board of Directors of the
Associated Builders and Contractors of Iowa, the Jefferson Swim
Team Board including three years as the Parent Representative to
the Conference, the Board of Directors of the Greene County
Development Corporation, where he completed a two year term as
the President, and the Board of Directors of the Midwest
Partnership, a three county development organization serving
Adair, Guthrie, and Greene counties, as well as having served on
the Rotary District 6000 Literacy Committee.
An
active member of
First
United
Methodist
Church
in Jefferson, Sam has previously served as the Trustee Chair,
Chair of the Building Renovation Committee and Co-Chair of the
church’s Capital Stewardship Campaign for the Building
Renovation, and he is currently in his second year as the
Finance Committee Chair.
